Smart Grid and eHealth Industry Awards for BaseN at TMF Digital Disruption 2013

Both Catalysts BaseN showcased at past week’s TM Forum’s Digital Disruption 2013 in San Jose, California together with high-level partners were awarded by TM Forum for their excellence in driving innovation and industry standards forward. Catalysts are TMF projects jointly coordinated by groups of selected service providers and vendors for a period of three to six months with the goal to find innovative solutions for current industry-critical challenges.

The Smart Grid Catalyst, lead by BaseN and including partners Hydro-Quebec, Cisco Systems, Infonova, TOA Technologies, Ericsson, Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and Integrated Architectures, was awarded as the Most Innovative Catalyst. The Catalyst demonstrated Big Data processing in large-scale Smart Grid networks.

The eHealth Catalyst won the award for Most Significant Contribution to Frameworx based on the achievement in overcoming interoperability challenges to improve patient care. For this Catalyst BaseN performed real-time data collection of blood pressure, blood sugar and temperature data from volunteers attending the conference. Based on the collected data, the other Catalyst participants, including China Unicom, Orange, Cisco Systems, Detecon International, Ericsson, ISPM, TOA Technologies, the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), MedPal, and Open mHealth, demonstrated how this and other kinds of health data could be integrated to their new eHealth service offerings and the entire eHealth value chain.

“We are extremely happy about the recognition both our Catalyst projects received from TMF and how they contributed to shaping the Smart Grid and eHealth space”, says Anders Viden, VP of Product Management at BaseN. “By showing real set-ups and integrating them to services provided by our Catalyst partners, we were able to show very likely scenarios for where those industries are heading now. We are looking forward to continue building up on the Catalysts for the next TMF event.”

Another highlight of the conference was the very well attended Internet of Things panel that also had Anders Viden as one of the speakers.
