BaseN issues scholarship to foster talents

BaseN issues scholarship to a selected paper author presented at the IEEE CQR2021 international workshop. 

Continuing the tradition of this series of workshops, the IEEC CQR 2021 provided an international technical forum for experts from industry and academia alike to exchange ideas and present results of ongoing research in various areas.

Accepted papers for IEEE CQR 2021 were submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore Digital Library after they were presented at the virtual conference.

The technical committee awards the best paper and the best student paper. To foster upcoming talents, BaseN grants a scholarship to the best presenter, independently evaluated by Pasi Hurri, President and Chief Executive Officer of BaseN, and Erik Bunn, Chief Technology Officer of BaseN. 

This year’s Best Paper Award was presented to the authors Hossein Ghannadrezaii, Jean-Francois Bousquet, and James Craig for their paper on “Outage Probability Analysis to Address Interference Vulnerabilities in Digital Mobile Radio Networks”

The Best Student Paper, was presented to Michael Cribbs for his paper on “Modulation-Based Physical Layer Security via Gray Code Hopping”.

In a virtual ceremony held on June 29, BaseN awarded a scholarship to Kiana Dziubinski for her outstanding paper on “Advancing User Quality of Experience Using Viewport Archives in Viewport-aware Tile-Based 360-Degree Video Streaming”

“At BaseN, we are always looking into new and innovative concepts such as spimes in the Internet of Things. When listening to Kiana’s presentation, I quickly realized the importance of her work in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, and am happy to present her with a scholarship to support her work”, says Pasi Hurri, President and CEO of BaseN who co-chaired this years IEEE CQR workshop. 

As the Chair of the IEEE Finland Joint Chapter of Control System Society, Robotics and Automation Society and System, Man and Cybernetics Society, Pasi understands the need of fresh thinking and continuously encourages young aspiring engineers.
