Libelium, designer and manufacturer of technology for the Internet of Things (IoT), and BaseN, a global Full Stack IoT Operator, have joined forces to speed up IoT adoption in any market.
BaseN and Libelium are now offering an integrated end-to-end IoT service suitable for any industry. BaseN Platform gathers the desired data that is transmitted through Libelium’s Meshlium gateway, turns that data into actionable information and delivers it to the end users. This happens through a multi-tenant user interface, reports and real-time alarms in case of emergencies.
The compatibility between Libelium wireless sensor networks and BaseN extreme-scale IoT Platform allows to develop in an easy way new IoT applications for smart cities, precission agriculture, smart environment and smart water management. In that sense, companies are enabled to deliver reliable IoT solutions with minimum time to market.
BaseN, with Libelium sensor network, have developed an IoT project for the golf course in Poorvo (Finland). It enables keepers to know exactly when the need for maintenance arises, provides an understanding of the player volumes, and gives players accurate and real-time information about the weather and other environmental conditions. “BaseN Platform and Libelium sensors provide accurate information and knowledge to take management decisions to the end users”, says Alicia Asin, CEO of Libelium.
“BaseN provides real time operations with own full stack platform, enabling true scalability and resilience for millions of users” adds Pasi Hurri, CEO of BaseN. “This makes BaseN Platform the perfect match for all kinds of mission-critical and sustainability needs in e.g. smart grid, smart city and advanced smart home environments”.

BaseN, the global Full Stack IoT Operator, provides an inherently scalable computing Platform for hosting billions of spimes, the core objects of the Internet of Things. Spime is the permanent logical brain and memory of any physical Thing. BaseN currently handles close to one million spime transactions per second, and enables the transformation from physical products to intelligent services in any industry. Since BaseN’s establishment in 2001, its powerful Platform has served telecom operators and large multinational enterprises with extreme-scale and fault-tolerant network and service management systems, and now enables them to roll out entirely new Internet of Things services www.basen.net.
Libelium designs and manufactures hardware for wireless sensor networks and a complete software development kit (SDK) so that system integrators, engineering, and consultancy companies can deliver reliable Internet of Things (IoT), M2M, and Smart Cities solutions with minimum time to market. Waspmote – Libelium’s wireless sensor platform – is modular and ready to integrate with key Cloud systems (AWS by Amazon, Azure by Microsoft, B-Scada, DeviceLynk, Devicify, Element Blue, Esri, IBM Bluemix, IoTSens, Sentilo, Sofia2 by Indra, Solvver, Telefonica, Thing +, ThingWorx), and low-energy IoT connectivity protocols (LoRa, MQTT, Sigfox). Over 10,000 developers from 120 countries in companies ranging from startups to universities to large international corporations have adopted Libelium’s technology for projects in five continents. Commercial deployments based on Waspmote include applications as varied as parking, traffic congestion, environmental monitoring, water quality and precision agriculture. Gartner named Libelium a Cool Vendor in embedded software and systems in 2014. Recently, Libelium has been considered a “unicorn” company in technological sector in Spain by Financial Times. Established in 2006, Libelium is privately held and has headquarters in Zaragoza, Spain. www.libelium.com
