What you missed last year

SPIME2019, BaseN’s outstanding IoT conference, took place on December 11 and 12 at the Finnish Labour Museum Westas in Tampere, Finland. BaseN’s fifth annual IoT conference focused on the theme “the future of work and the future of business” exploring where thought leaders see the most value in the coming 10 years.

BaseN brought together customers, partners and academia alike to line out different perspectives on how work and business has changed over the past centennial and how IoT and spimes will shape the future.

The event was split up into workshops for executives, illuminating topics such as:

  • AI and thought leadership for the next big revolution
  • Best practices and value propositions
  • Where do people see value in 10 years vs where is the value today? How fast will the transformation happen?
  • AI – hype vs reality
  • Customer relationships as a neglected source?
  • How is digitalization changing our cities
  • How will businesses and services be transformed when our cities become smarter

to name only a few.

After the workshops, the event continued with speeches from thought leaders in divers areas, all of them presenting their perspective of the future of work and business. Aleksi Suhonen, Chairman of the Board, Trex Regional Exchanges Oy highlighted the importance of proper routing and the threats of address high jacking in the connected world, while Mia Ala-Juusela, Senior Scientist, VTT introduced the effect of energy positive neighborhoods.

Great insights were also delivered by Martti Ylikoski, Solution Architect, Intrapreneur who presented the needs and solutions to mainstream IoT in developing countries.
