BaseN Corporation today announced that its Founder and CEO, Pasi Hurri (OH2TWI), serves as Vice Chair of Suomen Radioamatööriliitto ry (SRAL), the Finnish Amateur Radio League.
Founded in 1921, SRAL is the national central organization for radio amateurs in Finland, supporting wireless innovation, emergency communications, and technical expertise across the country.
Hurri’s leadership at SRAL bridges a lifelong passion for radio engineering with his foundational background as a radar officer in the Finnish Air Force – where he developed air defense, real-time data acquisition, and operational situational awareness systems.
Translating these defense-grade, mission-critical principles into commercial innovation, Hurri founded BaseN in 2001 to deploy BaseN Platform, harnessing Digital Twins and the Internet of Things (IoT). Engineered as a battle-tested, highly scalable, redundant, and fault-tolerant architecture designed for ingesting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing extreme telemetry volumes, BaseN provides full situational awareness, high availability, real-time monitoring & analytics, and drives planetary sustainability across carrier networks, enterprise security, and industrial IoT.
For Hurri, joining the leadership of SRAL represents both a personal full-circle moment and a strategic commitment to technological literacy:
“I built my first radio transmitter when I was 10. Since then I’ve always looked up to Radio Amateurs, with their unwavering spirit on understanding how technology and the universe works,” said Pasi Hurri, CEO of BaseN. “Being elected to SRAL is a great honor, and my mission is to promote this fundamental knowledge and spirit to a larger audience and especially younger generations.”
As Vice Chair, Hurri collaborates with SRAL’s board and members to advance amateur radio activities, foster technical education among emerging engineers, and reinforce the community’s vital role in national resilience and emergency communications across Finland.
