BaseN presents Practical Cases for Interoperable Services in Berlin
BaseN has participated in the 4th International Conference on Interoperability for Enterprise Software and Applications in Berlin.
Sujit Wings, Product Manager at BaseN gave a presentation on BaseN Energy Awareness Technologies, BaseN’s innovative real-time energy monitoring tool. Wings highlighted the interoperability challenges of the service, both on a signal interoperability as well as business interoperability level and showed how BaseN successfully solved these challenges.
- We will see an increased demand for convergent services in the future, leading to more cooperation between a wide range of industry segments. This will result in greater demands on interoperability, said Wings.
I-ESA brings together the world’s leading researchers and practitioners in the area of enterprise interoperability. It is a unique forum for the exchange of visions, ideas, research results and industrial experiences, dealing with a wealth of interoperability research subjects for business, enterprise applications and software.
- In order to create these convergent services, it will not be enough to find technical solutions. New business- and revenue models have to be developed and implemented as well, resulting in a new commercial landscape.

About I-ESA08
I-ESA’08 (Interoperability for Enterprise Software and Applications) carries on from the three previous successful experiences of I-ESA'05, organized in Geneva in February 2005; I-ESA'06, organized in March 2006 in Bordeaux and I-ESA'07, organized in March 2007 in Funchal.
Interoperability in the context of enterprise applications is the ability of a system or a product to work with other systems or products without special effort from the customer or user. The capability to interact and exchange information both internally and with external organizations (partners, suppliers, customers) is a key issue in the economic sector. It is fundamental in order to produce goods and services quickly and at lower cost, while ensuring higher levels of quality and customization.
I-ESA´08 is being jointly organized by the INTEROP VLAB (http://www.interop-vlab.eu) and the Enterprise Interoperability Centre – EIC (http://www.eic-community.org).
