BaseN is an international technology company, headquartered in Finland but operating around the globe, dedicated to large scale infrastructure monitoring and management.
Founded in 2001, BaseN has developed a comprehensive suite of network monitoring and reporting services which is in use by Enterprises and Operators around the world, giving customers the ability to pinpoint and resolve bottlenecks, outages, and third-party problems within seconds of their occurrence.
Unlike traditional data management packages, which are centralized and require substantial upfront CAPEX investments and maintenance, the BaseN system can be integrated easily into a customer's existing network, and a standard web browser can give full management access. This approach allows for increased stability, high flexibility and scalability, and substantially reduced operating costs.
BaseN offers a complete portfolio of services that monitor, measure, analyze and forecast data flows. It also visualizes the measurements and provides real-time overviews and alerting functions through tailored portals. Taking the technology further
The BaseN Platform - built on a distributed computing grid which allows linear scalability, exceptionally high processing speeds, and very high resilience - represents a new approach to large-scale data management, and provides new tools to secure and safeguard data.
Although the BaseN Platform was originally developed for IT network monitoring, the ability to integrate it with sensors and other measurement devices such as electric and gas meters opens up new possibilities in energy and environment measurement.
BaseN is one of the founder members of the FennoGrid Association whose purpose is the sharing of information on grid and peer-to-peer research and the promotion of co-operation projects in these fields. BaseN is also a member of an international e-Science consortium.
